Registration and Logging into the Site

Why can't I log in?

To log in into the site you must use the Username and Password that you entered when registering for the site. If you have not yet registered then you must first do so in order to log in. If you have registered and still are unable to log in then first check that you have all cookies enabled on your web browser. You may need to add this website to your browsers' list of trusted websites. If you are banned from the site then this may prevent you from logging in, in which case check with the site administrator.

Do I need to register?

You must register to post on the site. However, without registering you may still view the books that are for sale and search for any books you are interested in. It only takes a few minutes to register, so it is recommended that you do so. For a more detailed answer, including instructions for registering, click here.

Lost passwords

If you have lost your password, don't panic. Although passwords cannot be retrieved they can be reset. For instructions on resetting your password, click here.

I registered in the past but can't log in

It could be that you haven't posted anything for a while, or never posted anything. It is common for the site administrator to periodically delete users from the database to free up usernames and reduce the size of the database.

User Preferences and Site Settings

How do I change my site settings?

You can change your site settings, profile information, registration details, etc. from your Member Control Panel Menu, once you have logged into the site. You will be able to control many aspects and access member features from this central menu.

Posting Issues

How do I post a message in the site?

To post a book for sale, you must first register to become a user of PVCC's Used Book website. Once you have done so, log in, and then click on "Post New Book." If you need more help, please follow this tutorial.

Can I edit a book I post for sale?

No, you cannot edit your posted book. If you wish to change what your posted book says, for example, the price, you must delete your posted book and then re-post it for sale.

How do I delete posts?

Please Note: You can only delete your own posts. To delete your post, you need to first log into your account. When you view your post you will see a button below the post that says "Delete." Click that and your post will be deleted. PVCC asks that you please delete any books that you have sold or that you no longer wish to sell.

How do I search for a book?

You can search for books that are posted for sale on PVCC's Used Book website by clicking the "Search Books" button at the top of the screen. For more detailed information on searching for books, please click here.

Message Formatting

What is the ISBN?

ISBN stands for International Standard Book Number and is the number usually located on the back of the book or on the inside cover, often underneath a barcode.

Can I use HTML?

HTML cannot be used in your posts. This is done for security reasons as malicious HTML code can be used to destroy the layout of the site or even crash a web browser when a user tries to view a post.
